Today our model was sick so instead we drew a classmate instead. I’ve always been told that as an artist I should draw from life. I always wondered if it did any good, why not just use a really good photograph as a reference? I have since learned that no matter how good the camera is, it will distort reality. The distortion is even great enough to slow the progress of a student artist. I wonder what the effect of being surrounded by photos all the time is. I love photography. But I have learned that a picture will rarely beat real life.
